“The aim of the Catholic Worker movement is to live in accordance with the justice and charity of Jesus Christ.
Rooted in the good news of scripture, we seek the kingdom of God.
We seek to be an invitation to gospel living for the community, creating an opportunity for all to be part of the kingdom.
We come together in our brokenness to heal one another through the loving example of Christ.
We place an emphasis on the works of mercy and radical action against the causes of oppression through the practice of nonviolence.”

This statement is to express the plan and vision for a Catholic Worker house in New Orleans.
For over one year now the New Orleans Catholic Worker-Paul and Sue Troyano,
Katy and Joe Heeren-Mueller and Dan Thelen have been meeting together at least once a month to pray for guidance,
plan a Catholic Worker community, as well as organize seven speaking events for the community.
We believe this work can be supported by a greater community of people inspired by the Catholic Worker’s vision
for social justice including Hope House, Pax Christi, several apostolates of local religious communities in New Orleans
and connections with Catholic Worker houses throughout the country.
Our core community is partnered with these others to make a long-term, sustainable commitment
to having a Catholic Worker community in New Orleans which will provide hospitality and advocate for justice in our city and in our country.

We have moved into our first large house in the Irish Channel, where we hope to serve the community.
